As part of the IAC 2019, part of the Wednesday afternoon programme and evening will be in the form of experiencing some of our regional Adventure Tourism experiences. 

These activities are included with the registration fee for IAC Academic Conference registered attendees.  Additional tickets can be purchased by practitioners who have not registered for the Academic Conference and by guests who are not registered but accompanying a registered delegate.

Please note that some of the activities have limited place numbers so are offered on a first come basis. 

Some activities are also waether dependant so whilts these are what is planned they may be subject to change.

Activity 1

Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre

If you are a thrill seeker, this may be the one for you!

Experience one of Europe’s longest Zip wires which spanning 820 metres, the double line zip allows 2 people to ‘zip’ at the same time next to each other. Try your hand at Archery and tackle the archery range with real life 3D targets in the forest.  No trip to Scotland would be fulfilled without a chance to participate in our own IAC 2019 Highland Games.

Followed up with and informal supper.


Activity 2

Galloway Activity Centre will be offering two 90 minute sessions, the first session offers the choice of kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. Then, the second session would be sailing or the wobbly water park, subject to weather.

There are some dry options for anyone not wishing to go in the water.

Dinner will be a BBQ burger and ice cream.

Lots of fun in the Glenkens.

7Stanes Mountain Biking

Activity 3

This is unguided mountain biking using route maps on some of the World’s best single tracks through Kirroughtree Forest, on some of the best mountain bikes.

Mountain biking available for all abilities.

Guides are available for groups of 6 people for a £10pp supplement. Mountain biking is followed by dinner at Kirroughtree café.


Activity 4

Wildfood Foraging

Gentle foraging walk from Mossyard, exploring edible coastal, hedgerow plants and seaweeds. This will take around three hours and will cover approximately 1.5 miles, with foraged treats and tasters throughout, followed by an Al Fresco wild cook-in, washed down with elderflower champagne.

Some examples of what the meal would(max 32 people) include would be: wild sushi, foraged dashi broth, sourdough bread, wild seed cake.
